“The Seimas of Lithuania unanimously adopted a Resolution on the prohibition of the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the Olympic Games and other international competitions,” tweeted the Seimas of Lithuania.

According to the speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, “while Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine goes on, there can be no neutral flag for the representatives of aggressor countries”.

At the end of January, the International Olympic Committee announced its intention to return athletes from Russia and Belarus to performances at international competitions under a neutral flag. At the same time, IOC President Thomas Bach, although he confirmed the support of the Ukrainians, warned against the interference of state governments in the decision of the committee regarding the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Olympics.
