The relevant documents were signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine — the Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori.

It is planned to purchase equipment and services necessary for reconstruction using these funds.

“Just since the beginning of this year, Ukraine and Japan have agreed to allocate more than $650 million for Ukraine’s reconstruction needs. Thanks to these funds, we get the opportunity to promptly restore critical infrastructure, improve the economic situation in communities, and create conditions for Ukrainians to return home,” noted the Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

The decision to allocate $400 million will soon be finalized by concluding a corresponding grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which coordinates the official assistance of the Japanese government to other countries.

Also, the Japanese government will allocate $70 million in grant support for the recovery of Ukraine through the mechanism of the United Nations Development Program.
