Japan will allocate $30M for non-lethal weapons for Ukraine

Japan will allocate 30 million dollars for the supply of non-lethal weapons to Ukraine through the NATO trust fund and 470 million dollars as grant aid for the energy sector and other industries. The Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida said this during a joint press conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on March 21, 2023.

“Japan has decided to allocate 470 million dollars in the form of new bilateral grant aid for the energy sector and other industries, as well as 30 million dollars for the supply of non-lethal weapons through the NATO trust fund,” the head of the Japanese government said.

The Prime Minister of Japan also noted that Japan provides a wide range of additional assistance to Ukraine in areas such as demining, broadcasting, education, strengthening public administration and protecting cultural heritage, using its unique expertise.

“We will continue to support Ukraine as only Japan can,” Fumio Kishida said.

In addition, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida signed a joint statement on a special global partnership between the countries.
