Japan confirmed the full support of Ukraine in its struggle with Russia

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida on January 6, 2023. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said during a phone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Tokyo would do everything possible to provide assistance to Ukraine.

“Congratulated Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the beginning of Japan’s presidency of the G7. Thanked Japan for powerful generators and transformers that will help hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians stay warm and with light. Invited to take part in the implementation of the Peace Formula,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter.

Fumio Kishida confirmed that Tokyo fully supports Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The Japanese Prime Minister also said that he would consider an invitation to visit Kyiv depending on “various circumstances.”

“I strongly condemned Russia’s continued aggression, and stated that Japan would do its utmost to provide assistance, including to get through the winter, in order to protect the lives of the Ukrainian people,” said Fumio Kishida.

Earlier, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno confirmed that Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received an invitation to visit Ukraine. The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, handed the invitation to the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine on January 4, 2023.
