On September 26, 2022, it became known that Japan had decided to ban the export of chemical weapons-related goods to Russia as part of additional sanctions against Moscow over its threats of using nuclear weapons.

Japan’s government expressed concern about the nuclear blackmail of the Russian dictator.

“Japan is deeply concerned about the possibility of nuclear weapons used during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As the world’s only country to have suffered nuclear attacks, we strongly demand that the threat or use of nuclear weapons by Russia should never happen.”

Japan’s government has banned any export of materials that could be used to make chemical weapons for 21 Russian organizations, including science labs.

It should be noted that this measure was approved by the Cabinet after the relevant decision by the Group of Seven foreign ministers last week.

“We reconfirmed that G7 countries work together in supporting Ukraine and responding to food and energy security,” said Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
