Ukrainian junior figure skater Ivan Pavlov from Kyiv won his “gold” as a great gift to Ukrainian fans at XII European Youth Olympic Festival held in Austria and Liechtenstein .
After his performance in the long program, the athlete didn’t conceal his joy as he achieved his best result, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported.
“To feel myself as the champion of the European Youth Olympic Festival is very cool! I am extremely glad that I was able to show my best result. In fact, in the beginning I never think about the final result. The main thing for me is to skate my program successfully. You cannot jump above your head! When a skater achieves a good result on ice, respectively, it will be reflected in overall standings. I was very happy to defeat the Latvian figure skater Denis Vasiliev, because I always compete with him for winning prizes at prestigious tournaments,” the Ukrainian skater said.
As a reminder, the Olympic Festival 2015 lasts until January 30. It has over 900 athletes aged 14 -18 from 45 European countries competing in eight sports categories. The Ukrainian team consists of 21 junior Olympians in seven sports categories.
