The mission consisting of 14 specialists led by the head of the IAEA was scheduled to go to the ZNPP later this week.
An adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak commented on the event on his Twitter. He said that Russia was deliberately shelling the corridors for the IAEA mission to reach Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in order to direct it through the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Donetsk and Luhansk regions (east of Ukraine).
“Russia is deliberately shelling corridors for IAEA mission to reach ZNPP. All to offer passage through Crimea/ORDLO [uncontrolled portions of the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts – ed.] Ukraine’s position is the same. Access only through the controlled territory of Ukraine. Nuclear power plant demilitarization. Ru-troops withdrawal. Only Ukrainian personnel at the station.”
