The Hungarian government said that the European Union’s plan for a complete ban on Russian oil is unsatisfactory, as it threatens Hungary’s energy security.

Hungary and Slovakia, heavily dependent on Russian energy, will be given time until the end of 2023 to implement the sanctions, a year more than other member states have.
A spokesman for the Hungarian government said Hungary’s concerns remained unresolved.
“We don’t see any plan or guarantees in the current proposal to manage even a transition period and something that will guarantee Hungary’s energy security.”
