As of March 25, the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar strengthened by 3% compared with the beginning of the month, according to the macroeconomic and monetary review of the National Bank of Ukraine in March, published on its official website.
According to the National Bank's estimates, the strengthening of the national currency caused the devaluation rate of the hryvnia to the dollar since the beginning of the year fell to 9.4% from 13.4% recorded in January and February.
The National Bank notes that the weakening of the devaluation pressure has made it possible to conduct auctions for the purchase of foreign currency to replenish international reserves and the net purchase of foreign currency by the regulator amounted to $24.1 million.
As of February 25, the Ukrainian hryvnia at the official rate of the NBU devalued by 13.4% to UAH 27.2 to the dollar since the beginning of the year.
The historical low rate of the hryvnia, reached in February 2015, amounted to UAH 30.01 to the dollar.
