Heating tariffs rise following gas price

After the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the decision to raise gas prices for households to market levels from May 1, the price of thermal energy for the population will be increased by 60%, according to Ukraine`s Energy Ministry.
The heating tariffs will inrease from UAH 652/Gcal to UAH 1,041/Gcal, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, which elaborated on Wednesday on the details of the Cabinet`s decision.
According to the report, such increase in the cost of thermal energy is due to the fact that the heat suppliers have recently purchased gas at UAH 3,004 per 1,000 cubic meters, and after the gas prices are raised to market levels, they will buy the fuel at UAH 6,810 per 1,000 cubic meters.
