The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko noted on November 30, 2022, that she met in London with Baroness Joanna Penn, Parliamentary Secretary to HM Treasury, the leadership of the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, and representatives of the authorities responsible for sanctions policy. They agreed to cooperate on strengthening sanctions against Russia, and all those involved in its invasion of Ukraine.

The participants of the meeting discussed the effectiveness of the measures already taken, further priorities of the sanctions policy, measures to counter the circumvention of sanctions, as well as ways to ensure proper coordination of this policy.
“Both Ukraine and Great Britain are actively working on the introduction of sanctions against individuals and companies involved in waging war against Ukraine. It is important that we continue to coordinate efforts and exchange information. To achieve the greatest effect from the introduction of sanctions, it is also extremely important to mirror the sanctions,” noted the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Britain has imposed sanctions against more than 1,000 individuals and more than 100 businesses. Sanction lists are periodically updated.
It also prohibited Russian vessels, as well as vessels chartered by Russia, from entering its ports, introduced sanctions against the aviation sector of the Russian Federation, etc.
