Germany launches program to exchange Ukrainian cash hryvnia for euros on May 24

The Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Bank of Germany, German banks, and the National Bank of Ukraine will launch a program for Ukrainian refugees to exchange cash hryvnias for euros on May 24.

The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Bank of Germany have signed an agreement with the National Bank of Ukraine on an initial volume of exchange UAH 1.5 billion.

Refugees from Ukraine of legal age can convert a total of up to 10,000 hryvnias per person into euros at a participating German credit institution. Banknotes in denominations of 100, 200, 500, and 1,000 hryvnias belonging to the current banknote series issued by the National Bank of Ukraine will be accepted.

Conversion into euros will take place at the exchange rate posted on the Bundesbank website. It is noted that the exchange is initially possible for three months, and the losses arising from the exchange are borne by the federal budget.
