General Staff: Withdrawal of artillery possible after two days of ceasefire

The withdrawal of artillery systems with a caliber of 100 mm and above to the lines fixed in the Minsk memorandum is possible only if militants observe a real ceasefire for two days.
A press officer of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksiy Mazepa, said this at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The position of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on this issue remains unchanged. The Armed Forces are tasked with observing the ceasefire regime during the first stage. When we realize and make sure that the other side has been observing the ceasefire for at least 48 hours, then we will be able to proceed to the second stage – the withdrawal of heavy armaments to certain lines,” he said.
Mazepa said that the issue did not concern the withdrawal of military units from their positions and checkpoints.
