G7 countries agreed to create Alliance to prevent global hunger

The G7 Development Ministers agreed today to launch a Global Alliance for Food Security as a way to combat the hunger crisis that is threatening the world.

The Alliance must organize both funding and cooperation between states in providing for the world’s population. It is noted that this is currently under threat, in particular due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Thus, German Development Minister Svenya Schulze called on the G7 to work together to combat the famine that could result from the war in Ukraine, and proposed a new alliance on global food security at a meeting in Berlin on May 18.

Following this G7 decision, the aim now is to recruit other partners for the alliance in order to deliver a swift, effective and a sustainable joint response to the food crisis triggered by Russia’s war of aggression.
