Freight transportation by rail in Ukraine goes up in price by 15% from April 30

Freight transportation by rail in Ukraine went up in price by 15% from April 30, 2016, according to PJSC Ukrainian Railways, which was set up on the basis of the State Rail Transport Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia).
”The company will additionally earn UAH 100 million due to the timely increase in freight transportation rates,” the company told UNIAN.
The company estimates that if the rates had been increased later, i.e. on May 4-5, it would have lost that sum of money, as Ukrzaliznytsia loses UAH 25-27 million per day due to low tariffs.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan announced on April 19, 2016, that the increased tariffs on freight transportation had not been approved due to the formation of the new Ukrainian government.
Ukrzaliznytsia previously planned to raise its freight transportation rates by 30% in two phases: by 15% from January 1, 2016, and by another 15% from July 1, 2016.
On March 2, the Cabinet approved Ukrzaliznytsia`s draft financial plan with an average annual increase in freight transportation tariffs by 10%. The tariffs were expected to grow as of May 1.
Its net profit in 2016 is projected at UAH 96.8 million.
