France will send investigators to Ukraine after finding mass graves in Izyum

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna at the UN Security Council meeting in New York on September 22, 2022, said that her country would send a support mission to Ukraine for investigating Russian war crimes committed in Izyum, Kharkiv region.

“We sent two teams of investigators to Ukraine. They helped the Ukrainian justice process patiently for three months and we also donated a mobile lab for DNA analysis. We decided to send another support team to Izyum when new Russian crimes in Izyum have been revealed to the world. Justice must be based upon facts and evidence, where Russia operates using propaganda and disinformation.”

According to French Foreign Minister, they must ensure that those responsible for crimes are held accountable.

“France’s message today is simple: justice must be our common imperative. Without justice, there will be no peace.”

It turned out that Russian troops behaved in a similar way as in the Kyiv region: they tortured residents, destroyed kindergartens and schools, and other infrastructure during the occupation of Izyum and Balaklia in the Kharkiv region (east of Ukraine).
