The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed former employee of KPMG U.S. audit company Igor Smelyansky as head of state-owned Ukrposhta postal services provider.
A relevant decision was unanimously passed at the first meeting of the new government on Wednesday, April 20.
Smelyansky was nominated by the selection committee under the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry for the post of Ukrposhta`s head.
”We need the best people in order to bring the situation out of the current state. We are looking for the best for all areas of public administration. The best of the best should come and enjoy political support,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said, commenting on the appointment.
Smelyansky, who was present at the government`s meeting, stressed that Ukrposhta has good prospects for improving the services it provides both to the corporate sector and the public.
”There are 36 centers to handle postal mail now. Large countries have got from five to six outlets. Ukraine is a beautiful and compact country. There are no reasons why we cannot deliver parcels and letters within the period of from two to five days,” he said.
