Fiscal Service recovers almost UAH 500 bln during procurement inspections

The State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS) has recovered UAH 499.3 million to the state budget based on the results of inspections in a public procurement sector, according to a posting on the SFS website.
It is reported that a total of 191 criminal proceedings have been registered in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations for violations in the sphere of public procurements.
Most violations are classified under article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This includes misappropriation, embezzlement of property or seizure by means of the official position abuse,” the statement reads.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada on December 25, 2015 passed a bill obliging ministries and large-sized state companies to handle all their state procurements via the newly created ProZorro e-system as of April 1, 2016, whereas other state companies and state agencies will be transferred to the system as of August 1, 2016.
The World Procurement Awards has given its Public Sector Award to Ukraine`s ProZorro e-procurement system.
More than 95,000 tenders have been held with the use of the system. The total value of tenders is estimated at UAH 31.90 billion and the number of customers who have joined the system is 5,000. Estimated savings as of the end of the year are projected at UAH 5 billion.
