“Today, an RCAF ARC [Royal Canadian Air Force Aircraft – ed.] aircraft departed Halifax carrying the first Leopard 2 main battle tank that Canada is sending to Ukraine,” reported the Minister of Defense of Canada.
Anita Anand also added that Canada stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
“Canada stands with the people of Ukraine – and we’ll continue to provide Ukraine’s Armed Forces with the equipment that they need to win,” wrote the Minister of Defense of Canada.
In the second decade of January, the Canadian government also announced that it would provide Ukraine with 200 Canadian-made armored vehicles worth 90 million Canadian dollars. Earlier, Canada allocated 406 million Canadian dollars for the purchase of air defense systems in the United States for Ukraine. The volume of Canadian military aid to Ukraine has exceeded 1 billion Canadian dollars as of today.
