European Parliament against activities with new RF Duma because of the illegal annexation of Crimea

The European Parliament has no plan of carrying out activities with the future State Duma of the Russian Federation which might run counter to its non-recognition policy of the illegal annexation of Crimea, Giacomo Fassina, a spokesman of European Parliament President Martin Schulz, told a UNIAN correspondent in Brussels.

”The position of the European Parliament – and of its President – on the illegal annexation of Crimea has not changed. The EP has repeatedly stated its commitment to the policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation, the latest case being its resolution of May 12, 2016. The EP has also always strongly stated its firm commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. So, the European Parliament has no plan of carrying out activities which might run counter to its non-recognition policy,” he said.

”Moreover, the EP did not receive an invitation to observe parliamentary elections in Russia. There will not be any EP official election observation mission to the country,” Fassina said.
