“The EU is committed to supporting Ukraine for as long as needed. We expect to make second MFA+ payment next week – €1.5 bln in emergency support to help Ukraine meet immediate needs,” tweeted the EU Commission Executive Vice-President for an Economy.

On December 10, the Council of the European Union supported the European Commission’s proposal to provide Ukraine with additional financial support in 2023. The new macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine will amount to EUR 18 billion. It is expected that the concessional loan funds will be transferred to the state budget in equal parts throughout 2023, subject to Ukraine’s fulfillment of the conditions agreed upon by the parties.

On January 17, Ukraine received the first tranche of €3 billion under the macro-financial assistance program.
