EU signed a memorandum on providing Ukraine with €5B in macro-financial assistance

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote on Twitter that the EU had signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the provision of €5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine on October 3, 2022. Ukraine should receive the first tranche in mid-October.

“The EU signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the provision of €5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. I am grateful to Ursula von der Leyen [President of the European Commission – ed.] and Valdis Dombrovskis [Vice President of the European Commission – ed.] for this decision.”
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also noted that this was another gesture of the EU, which intended to support Ukraine in victory in this war, reconstruction and striving for a European future.
The Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis also announced the signing of the Memorandum.
“Pleased to sign second Memorandum of Understanding with Ukraine since Russia began its brutal war. This time: the EU will provide €5 bln for Ukraine’s immediate liquidity needs, pay salaries & pensions. We will deliver first part mid-October, next two parts to follow later in year.”
