The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in eastern Ukraine 76 times in the past 24 hours, including 23 attacks with the use of banned 120mm and 82mm mortars, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
”The situation was most tense in the Donetsk sector. Ukrainian soldiers have survived massive fire strikes from heavy weapons, rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and small arms. They efficiently fired back, and the enemy had not the slightest chance of success,” the report says.
The town of Avdiyivka remains an unassailable fortress for the enemy. During this period, the illegal armed groups opened fire 22 times on ATO forces there.
The militants also fired banned weapons on the Ukrainian positions near the villages of Luhanske, Zaitseve, Opytne and Pisky.
In the Mariupol sector, the illegal armed groups were active near the villages of Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Lebedinske and the town of Krasnohorivka, where the enemy launched 35 mines on the positions of the Ukrainian troops.
