Defense minister says Donetsk airport will not be given to militants

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has ruled out the possibility that the Donetsk airport, which is controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, will be given away to terrorists.
He said this in an interview with the Shuster Live program.
The minister said that the armed forces currently had reached a level that they can effectively keep this facility under control.
“The airport is a symbol of courage and heroism of our soldiers. We need this airport, and we will defend it,” he said.
The minister said that the airport was also important to militants and therefore they would not stop attempts to seize it.
As reported, Ukrainian troops have been holding a strategically important airport in Donetsk for the fifth month, despite numerous assaults and attacks with heavy weapons.
