Canada to give $13.5 million loan to develop Ukrainian grain cooperatives

Canada will give a $13.5 million loan to eliminate restrictions on development of farmer grain industry co-ops in Ukraine within next six years.
The news was reported on the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine website.
“Canada gives US $13.5 million for the period of six years to remove the restrictions on the development of Ukrainian small and medium enterprises involving the production of grain,” the statement said.
It was noted that the project to assist farmers in organizing themselves into effective cooperatives so that they will gain access to funds necessary for the cultivation and storage of grain, construction of processing facilities.
These measures will allow farmers to add value to their crops and increase their profits. Short- and long-term training courses in the field of management and administration of agricultural cooperatives will be organized for them.
