“Kicking off the G7 with James Cleverly [Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom – ed.]. We discussed the need for long-term support for Ukraine as they continue to fight for their freedom. Canada and the UK have stood with the Ukrainian people since day 1 and we intend to do so for as long as it takes,” tweeted the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada.

Later, Melanie Joly reported that issues related to Ukraine were also discussed during the G7 ministerial summit in the Japanese city of Karuizawa.

“The unity of the G7 is what makes it strong. Every foreign minister’s meeting involves working sessions where we coordinate our approach. On the agenda this time: our support to Ukraine, the de-escalation of tensions in the Indo-Pacific and the situation in Iran,” emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada.
