Britain and Japan agreed to increase support for Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunak and the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida, during a telephone conversation on November 5, 2022, agreed to strengthen support for Ukraine and maintain sanctions against Russia.

“Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has held phone talks with new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, agreeing to deepen bilateral cooperation amid concerns over Russia’s war on Ukraine and increasing military activities by China and North Korea,” the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.

According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Sunak and Kishida confirmed that Japan and Britain will speed up negotiations for an agreement to strengthen compatibility and cooperation between their armed forces as soon as possible. The signing of an agreement on the joint development of a fighter jet will also be accelerated.

“As for Ukraine, they agreed to continue support for the country and keep sanctions against Russia,” concluded the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
