Breaking pause: Putin to visit EU 1st time in six months

At the end of next week, Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a visit to Greece, according to RBC news agency.
This will be the Russian president`s first visit to the EU member state since last November, RBC reports referring to the officials familiar with the process of preparing the trip.
Putin will arrive in Athens on May 27, the visit will last two days, said one of them.
The authorities of the two states were talking about preparations for this trip earlier this spring.
It is noted that Putin`s visit to Greece will interrupt a long pause in his travels to the Western countries. The last time Putin came to the European Union member states was on November 30, 2015, when he took part in the UN climate conference in Paris.
The Russian president does not plan any other visits to the EU in the first half of 2016, said two sources of the publication close to the Foreign Ministry and the Russian presidential administration. One of them said that a European leader in June may attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which Putin will also attend.
