The National Bank of Ukraine and bankers made public an objective hryvnia rate at the level of 13.5 UAH/USD, despite an agreement at the beginning of September to keep it within 12.4-12.9 UAH/USD.
Head of the state-owned Ukrgasbank Serhiy Mamedov told reporters, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“It was said that the rate (of the hryvnia – Ed.) should be at the level of 13.5 UAH/USD. But there are no agreements that we are working at UAH 13.5 UAH/USD – this is the market,” Mamedov said, speaking about the results of the second meeting of the regulator with the banking community.
According to him, the Dutch auctions, held by the National Bank, substantially influence the current situation with the rate. “The auction covered available demand. This week, we are expecting another auctions,” Mamedov said.
On Monday, trading on the interbank opened with a quotation at 14.0-14.9 UAH/USD.
