Anti-corruption laws raise interest of Western donors in Ukraine – NBU governor

The adoption of anti-corruption legislation in Ukraine, as well as the law on lustration (the cleansing of power), has raised the interest of Western financial donors in cooperation with Ukraine.
Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Hontareva said this in an interview with Ukrinform’s correspondent in Washington.
“Ukraine has shown international partners that we have finally started walking the path of reform, which everyone expects from us,” she said.
She said that the anti-corruption law was one of the conditions for further cooperation between Ukraine and international funds.
“We discussed at meetings here [in Washington] that such a law was needed, and it was adopted,” she said, adding that this step was regarded by partners “as a positive fact for Ukraine.”
