Brown called on the international community to continue providing vital aid to Ukraine. At the same time, she referred to the updated “Emergency Humanitarian Appeal” of the UN and humanitarian organizations to respond to the worsening situation.

“Over the last five months, we have seen how local, national and international humanitarian organizations have joined efforts across Ukraine to increase the scale and scope of operations and provide assistance to more than 11 million people. The reality is that more people need support,” said Denise Brown, explaining that at least 17.7 million people—over a quarter of Ukraine’s population – will need humanitarian aid in the months ahead.

In the April Flash Appeal, it was about $2.25 billion, but now the necessary amount has increased to $4.3 billion. These funds will be used to provide critical assistance and services for the protection of the population throughout Ukraine until December 2022.

It is noted that providing assistance to people in the winter period is one of the priorities of the humanitarian activities of the UN in Ukraine in the coming months.
