National Bank of Ukraine considers ”realistic” forex rate of UAH 27.2 to dollar in 2017

NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva has said that the hryvnia exchange rate at UAH 27.2 to the dollar laid down in the state budget for 2017 is quite realistic.

”The rate laid down in the state budget is quite realistic,” Gontareva told ICTV.

”Moreover, we are actively working with international organizations and with our Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. Therefore, we are discussing all these figures. That`s why, I can tell you that this is a realistic rate,” the NBU Governor said.

Earlier, the National Bank announced a further easing of administrative restrictions on the foreign exchange market, established during 2014-2015 in order to stabilize the national currency.

The historic low of Ukrainian hryvnia exchange rate against the U.S. dollar was recorded in February 2015 at UAH 30.01 to the U.S. dollar.
