9 Russian kamikaze drones were shot down in the airspace around Kyiv

Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration noted on February 27, 2023, that 9 UAVs were shot down in the airspace around Ukraine’s capital.

“According to a preliminary assessment, the Russian army used loitering munitions Shahed. The drone attack was actually carried out in two waves, stretched as much as possible in time. In this way, Russian military tried to realize its tactical goal — to exhaust Ukrainian air defense. Therefore, the last night air alert in Kyiv lasted for a long 5 and a half hours,” informed the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

According to preliminary data, there were no casualties and damaged infrastructure objects.

In addition, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that at night, Russian troops used 14 drones on the territory of Ukraine.

“At night, from 11 p.m. until the morning, Russians used 14 Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of Ukraine. Previously, 11 of these drones were shot down by Ukrainian Air Force,” said the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
