83% of Ukrainians support Ukraine’s accession to NATO, – survey

Support for Ukraine’s accession to NATO among Ukrainians is currently the highest in the entire history of observations: 83% would support this initiative in a referendum, according to the results of a survey by the sociological group “Rating” conducted from October 1 to October 2 among 2,000 respondents in all regions of Ukraine, except for the occupied territories where mobile communication is currently unavailable.

“Support for joining NATO is the highest in the history of observations: 83% would support this initiative in a referendum, 4% would oppose it, and 9% would not vote.”

76% supported joining the Alliance in June of this year, compared to the current 83%.

Joining NATO is perceived more cautiously by residents of the east of the country (69% are in favor of joining, 9% against, and 17% would not vote). Despite this, compared to the previous survey, the dynamics of support for joining the Alliance among residents of this macro-region is very positive  (55% were in favor in June, 20% were against, and 22% would not come to vote).

In addition, 86% of respondents would support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union in the event of a referendum (3% are against, and 7% would not vote). Support for joining the EU is unanimous among representatives of all macro-regions and age groups in Ukraine.
