The poll was conducted among 4,900 Ukrainians currently living in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Slovakia from mid-May to mid-June.

Most of the surveyed Ukrainians say that they want to return to Ukraine when such an opportunity arises, but 65% still plan to stay in the country where they found themselves, and 9% – to move to another. The main factor that will encourage them to return is a decrease in the intensity of hostilities.

16% of respondents reported that they want to go to Ukraine in the next two months, but almost all of them – temporarily, to see relatives and friends or to resolve matters. 40% of those planning to return intening to do so within the next month, while the rest were not sure when exactly they would go.

People’s plans differ significantly depending on the region of residence – residents of the Kyiv and the western regions are much more willing to return home than those of the east and north of Ukraine.
