About 55-70 thousand borrowers are concerned about conversion of foreign currency loans, while the number of the Ukrainian banks ‘customers is 30 million people, who are interested in the economic stability of the state.
Advisor to PrivatBank CEO Viktor Lysytsky has told this at a press conference on ways to restructure foreign currency, held in the Ukrinform news agency.
“Solving the problem of restructuring of foreign currency loans, according to some reports, concerns 55-70 thousand borrowers. If to consider the interests of all the depositors of financial institutions, whose number nearly reaches 30 million people, the importance of solution of this issue for the economic stability of the state becomes clear,” he said.
The advisor to PrivatBank CEO stressed that to solve the problem, the chiefs of the financial institutions, the regulator and the parliament sought in the legal field to define the parameters of a moratorium on the alienation of property, which the loan has been secured on.
“This is one of the key documents, the goal of which is to settle the problem by introducing a shared responsibility, primarily between clients and financial institutions. At this stage, the decisive fact will be the adoption of the draft of this document by the top ten banks of the Ukrainian banking system,” the official said.
