“More artillery ammunition for Ukraine as fast as possible. This was the main focus of today’s EU Foreign Affairs Council. I anticipate the swift adoption of big decisions which will bolster Ukraine’s capabilities on the battlefield,” tweeted the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.

The Minister welcomed the initiative of European colleagues to increase the European Peace Fund by an additional 2 billion euros to finance the purchase of weapons and ammunition for Ukraine and to replenish partners’ stocks.

Dmytro Kuleba also thanked the European colleague Josep Borrell and all the EU member states for the proposal on the joint procurement of ammunition based on the initiative of Estonia.

According to Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine also needs to be promptly provided with additional means of air defense, tank shells, anti-tank systems, long-range, high-precision weapons and other equipment.

The EU Council of Foreign Ministers, which is being held on March 20, 2023, in Brussels in a joint format with the participation of the ministers of foreign affairs and defense ministers of the EU countries, can agree on the final decision on the supply of ammunition to Ukraine and on the joint order for the production of such ammunition in the European defense industry.
