The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen noted on February 2, 2023, during the joint press conference with the Ukrainian President in Kyiv, that the European Union would complete work on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia by the anniversary of the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2023.
“By February 24, 2023 ,exactly one year since the invasion started, we aim to have the 10th package of sanctions [EU against Russia. – ed.] in place,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
The President of the European Commission emphasized that Russia would also be forced to pay for the destruction it caused and would have to provide funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“That is, Russian state funds will go to the benefit of Ukraine. We decide how to do it,” said the head of the European Commission.
The President of Ukraine insists on the implementation of new EU sanctions against the Russian Federation as soon as possible.
“We discussed new sanctions against Russia, in particular, the tenth package of European Union sanctions. This is a common European task – to reduce Russia’s ability to circumvent sanctions, and the faster and better this task is carried out, the closer we will be to the defeat of Russian aggression. We can now see that the pace of sanctions Europe has slowed down a bit, and the terrorist state, on the contrary, is increasing the pace of adaptation to sanctions,” explained Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
