The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Alyona Matveeva notes that 176,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory are mined by Russian troops as of November 17, 2022, which is equal to the area of an average European country.

More than 190,000 explosive items have already been discovered in the liberated from Russian troops territories of Ukraine.
“The general demining of Ukrainian territories will continue for years. But Ukrainians want to return to their homes, so the initial demining will take about a month for one settlement. I emphasize that this is primary emergency demining,” said the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to Alyona Matveeva, Russian troops mine absolutely everything. First of all, critical infrastructure facilities in the liberated territories need demining.
“Currently, more than 60 percent of the personnel of the State Emergency Service and the National Police of Ukraine are in the east and south of Ukraine, mostly in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions. We note that the Kharkiv region is the most contaminated by shells compared to other territories,” explained the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
