“10 bloc countries supported Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance within 48 hours of signing the application for joining NATO. Most of them are countries that remember the poisonous claws of the Russian empire. We thank the allies for demonstrating leadership and responsibility. History is being made today.”

Ukraine submitted an application to join NATO under an accelerated procedure on September 30, 2022. While the Ukrainian side will wait for approval from all members of the Alliance, it suggests implementing proposals regarding security guarantees for Ukraine in accordance with the Kyiv Security Treaty.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says that Ukraine’s accession to NATO depends on the consent of all allies.
