“The invasion of Ukraine has created the biggest crisis in Europe since the Second World War. The need for military support for Ukraine is extensive and time-critical, and makes it possible for the country to defend itself against Russia’s military attacks contrary to international law.”
The Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Store announced an increase in support to Ukraine to NOK 10 billion in 2022 and 2023, during his visit to Kyiv in July. Three out of ten billion will be used for military support in 2022.
In addition, the Norwegian government also offers to purchase winter clothing and equipment for the Ukrainian forces in the amount of up to NOK 250 million.
“Winter equipment is essential for the Ukrainian soldiers to be able to operate and defend themselves during autumn and winter, but a lot of uniforms were lost in the first months of the war. The countries that support Ukraine contribute in a coordinated effort to acquire heat-insulating clothing and other material such as tents, etc.”
