Participants in the forthcoming NATO summit in Madrid plan to declare that Russia is no longer a partner of the Alliance, but a threat to peace and stability

NATO countries plan to approve the concept of a new strategy at the summit. Russia was designated as a strategic partner in the current strategy of the alliance adopted in 2010.
“As the world changes, so does NATO. And the world has become more dangerous. We will declare that Russia is no longer a partner, but a threat to our security, peace and stability. China will also be mentioned in the concept for the first time. Because the rise of China is a challenge to our interests, our values and our security,” the NATO chief said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that the summit in Madrid would transform the Alliance. Important decisions on defense and deterrence would be made.
NATO countries plan to adopt a “Strategic Compass” and establish contacts with Asian partners, as well as with Sweden and Finland.
