“I’m signing a bill that provides another important tool that directly supports the government of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and their fight to defend their country and their democracy against Putin’s brutal war. The cost of the fight is not cheap, but caving to aggression is even more costly.”
The President of Ukraine thanked him for the support.
“I am grateful to the President of the United States and the people of the United States for supporting Ukraine in the struggle for our freedom and future. Signing the Land Lease Act today is a historic step. I am convinced that we will win together. And defend democracy in Ukraine and Europe as we did 77 years ago,” stressed the Ukrainian President.
Uaposition memo: The Lend-Lease Act of 1941 was originally proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to help arm British forces battling Germany.
