Yatseniuk: Russia wants to freeze us

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk believes that Russia intends “to freeze Ukraine.”
Yatseniuk said to the Reuters agency on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“They (Russia – Ed.) want to freeze us. This is a goal, and there is another trump in the Russian hands. Besides the military operation against Ukraine, they have another trump – energy,” he noted.
Commenting on the authorities’ intention to grant a special status to territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Yatseniuk noted that this was a choice between “bad and very bad” decisions. “We understand that we have only two variants: bad and worse. Therefore, the President and the government made their choice in favor of a simply bad decision,” he explained.
Yatseniuk confessed that he does not trust to President of Russia Vladimir Putin as a partner at peaceful negotiations on settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. “I do not believe the President Putin,” the Premier said. According to him, just because of that Kyiv insists that the U.S. and the EU participated in the Ukrainian-Russian negotiations.
