“President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the Law No. 1648-VII« On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the identification and registration of animals,” under which compulsory identification and registration of all animals in the Unified State Register of farm animals was introduced,” a statement reads.
This law will allow the state to first control the state of health of farm animals and guarantee the quality of meat and dairy products.
“Thus, by this law, legislation of Ukraine is brought in line with EU legislation, a system of continuous monitoring of the health of all animals – cattle, pigs, horses, sheep and goats – and veterinary-sanitary conditions of all households. The state can guarantee to customers that they take meat and dairy products of the known origin – from the registered animals, their health is to be surveyed, and, therefore, this product is safe,” the press service noted.
In turn, the cost of works and services on identification and registration of animals, kept and bred by population, will be compensated from the state budget. Also, ability is envisaged to compensate for the cost by third parties.
Instead, the law also establishes responsibility of the owners and keepers of animals for violation of the law in this area.
