Ukraine`s underground gas stocks exceed 13.1 bcm

Stocks of natural gas in Ukraine`s underground storage facilities grew by 3.4%, or 425 million cubic meters (mcm), from 12.687 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas on September 3 to 13.112 bcm of gas on September 10, according to Ukrtransgaz, operator of Ukraine`s gas transport system.

The amount of gas pumped daily into the underground storage facilities, as of September 10, was at 60 mcm.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine stopped taking gas from its USFs with the end of the heating season, and since April 7 gas stocks have been replenished.

In August-September, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine planned to pump 14.5 bcm of gas into its underground gas storage facilities by the start of the next heating season. However, in the end of August, the Government decided on the need to bring the volume of gas stocks in the USFs to 17 bcm.

State-owned Naftogaz of Ukraine plans to buy gas using its own funds and a $300 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
