Ukraine`s customs find excess UAH 1.3 bln for road repairs

Four Ukrainian customs houses involved in a pilot excess revenue distribution project launched in September 2015 have channeled UAH 1.3 billion into infrastructure development in their regions since then, according to the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service (SFS), which incorporates the customs.
”During the period from September 2015 through May 2016 the SFS`s customs houses transferred more than UAH 1.3 billion for infrastructure development (reconstruction, repairs to public roads of state importance),” the service said in a statement.
According to the SFS, the Lviv Customs Service has proved to be the biggest contributor under the project, having collected UAH 453.5 million for road repairs. For example, the Odesa Customs Service carried out transfers to the region`s special fund only in January and February 2016 in the amount of UAH 92 million. In September-December 2015 and March-May 2016, the Odesa Customs Service did not affect planned transfers out of customs duty revenue.
As UNIAN reported earlier, since September 2015, Ukraine has been implementing the pilot project aimed at developing infrastructure in Odesa, Volyn, Lviv, and Chernivtsi regions. Under the project, 50% of the above-the-plan monthly customs duty payments shall be channeled into a special fund of a relevant regional budget. Kyiv region will also be included in the project this year.
