The Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade announces the average price of natural gas in Ukraine in 2016 calculated on the basis of a consensus forecast given by interviewed experts.
The price of imported gas for Ukraine this year will be about $202 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to the consensus forecast.
The average gas price in 2017 and 2018 may go to $210-220 per 1,000 cubic meters.
The experts say their forecasts are based on the fact that the price of Brent crude oil, which is a component of the gas price formula, is projected at $40 per barrel in 2016, but it may grow to $44.5-48.5 per barrel in future.
As UaPosition reported earlier, the price of natural gas Ukraine buys from the European Union fell to $190 per 1,000 cubic meters in January. It is lower than the price asked by Russia gas giant OAO Gazprom for its gas.
Ukraine stopped buying Russian gas early in 2016. It also ceased taking gas from its reserves in underground storage facilities on April 7, 2016, due to the end of the heating season.
