Ukraine`s agriculture ministry announces grain harvest forecast for 2016

Ukraine`s Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry forecasts that the gross yield of grain in Ukraine in 2016 will exceed 60 million tonnes for the fourth year in a row.
”This year, farmers have grown a good harvest, and the gross yield of grain will exceed 60 million tonnes for the fourth consecutive year,” the ministry`s press service quoted Deputy Minister Yaroslav Krasnopolsky.
Odesa region alone has already harvested 3 million tonnes of early grain, which is one of the highest indicators for this region, the press service said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry earlier forecast a yield of grain in 2016 at about 60 million tonnes.
By July 19, farmers had already harvested 18 million tonnes of grain.
The USDA projects Ukraine will harvest 61.3 million tonnes of grain this year.
The yield of grain in 2015 was 60.1 million tonnes and leguminous crops, which was 5.8% down on a record high of 63.8 million tonnes recorded in 2014. This data doesn`t include information from occupied areas in Donbas and Crimea.
