Ukraine to explain Ukrnafta investors they won’t receive $5 bln

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy and the Justice Ministry to prepare an objection to the claim lodged by Cypriot investors of the public joint-stock company Ukrnafta, charging Ukraine USD 5 billion in compensation for damages.
“I instruct the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy as a shareholder of the Ukrnafta company and the Justice Ministry to prepare without delay an objection to the claim lodged by the non-state shareholders of the Ukrnafta company,” Yatseniuk says.
In addition, the PM instructs the State Fiscal Service to collect all taxes and fees from the companies, having a state share in their capital. “In particular this applies to rents,” he said.
According to Yatseniuk, the non-state Ukrnafta shareholders have sent a formal modification demanding that Ukraine pays $5 billion in compensation for the actions of the Ukrainian government and national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy.
